I’ve learned to love painting and I’m fascinated by perception and the physicality of paint. These are objects and I think that is beautiful in and of itself. When working from life, I want to sit with my subject matter and balance the simplicity and complexity. My subject matter is not always important, but when it is it’s about life. These pieces are reflective and constant. They are also very of their place and of their life.
There is beauty in the quiet moments and the everyday.
I had a friend say my ink paintings were of liminal spaces once - I think that’s the closest anyone has come to finding the right word for what I’m trying to do. Liminal. In-between and just trying to be.
